The Geometric Backsplash — Eye-catching Patterned Tiles Steal the Show
From the moment you lay eyes on this kitchen, you won’t forget its distinctive chic look. Deep navy blue cabinetry contrasts beautifully with the lighter warm-toned wood textures, setting the scene for the star of the show — a stunning mosaic of tiles decorates the backsplash, adding a contemporary look and color combination without being overwhelming.
A colorful backsplash such as this one is unconventional, but when well-designed, a geometric backsplash can display the personality of your home in a way like nothing else. The jolt of color will keep your kitchen looking modern and stylish for decades. In the Demetra January Project-of-the-Month, the designer paired orange with hues of blue, building an overall kitchen color scheme. The wood floor and cabinet doors have a warm undertone, tastefully chosen to support and amplify the warm tangerine colors. The deep blue of the cabinetry is reflected in the tiles, matched with a light slate blue that softens the contrast. Together, the tiles, cabinetry, and other colors and materials used create a complete and curated look.
The interior designer utilized a variety of unique design concepts to add character to the heart of this house. A small colored shelf is set on the wall of cabinets on the side, adding a trendy spot to display kitchen decor or store additional dishware. Under-cabinet lighting adds an additional contemporary touch in the evenings, and a smooth quartz countertop preserves a glamorous look. The glass bay window is decorated into a greenhouse-like space that is perfect for plants. The overall result is a gorgeous and delightfully quirky kitchen certain to awe your guests.
These navy cabinets feature slim shaker doors, a type of cabinet door built with a recessed panel that forms a sleek and minimalistic design. For this project, the designer chose to utilize the Impressions Collections’ IN Series, highlighting a thermofoil (thermo) PVC vinyl applied to MDF doors. They are known to be smooth to the touch, seamless, and easy to clean, making them the perfect addition. The understated elegance of the crisp blue cabinets is juxtaposed with natural wood textures, bringing a combination that enunciates a modern yet homey feeling.
