What Are Counter-Depth Upper Cabinets?

In a typical kitchen, lower cabinets are about 24 inches deep, while upper cabinets are much shallower at 12 inches, so that the workspace will not be encroached too much. What if we use “counter-depth” upper cabinets above standard upper cabinets? The most obvious advantage is creating about 12 inches more storage instantly. It would be more crucially important to a compact kitchen. The counter depth uppers are highly above the countertop, so no need to worry about blocking the views. Counter-depth uppers also work well in a kitchen with a sizable island to serve as the main work space. We can use back wall to serve mostly storage and leave a minimal opening around the range or sink, which create a very clean and tidy appearance.
