At Demetra Cabinetry, we work exclusively with European cabinetry styles. You may have taken a look at our various projects and cabinet collections, but do you really understand what European cabinetry is and why it's so great?
In recent years, European style cabinets have become very popular amongst American homeowners. While many people choose them simply because they're stylish, others prefer them for their simplicity.
The main aspect of European style cabinets is the incorporation of hidden hinges. Hidden hinges allow the cabinets to be frameless, thus maximizing the amount of storage space available to them. Furthermore, because the cabinets are frameless, they are also lighter in weight and easier to be opened. As such, accessing the contents of the cabinets is much simpler.
The advantage of European cabinets lies in their frameless construction—this means that the cabinets do not have a face frame attached to the front of the cabinet box. All you see with frameless cabinets are the flat door and drawer fronts—this creates a modern, sleek, and simple aesthetic that can work with many design themes throughout the home.
Frameless cabinets do not have a center stile coming down in the middle of the two cabinet doors. This provides easier access to the items inside, as well as more storage space to work with. The shelves are typically adjustable. Drawers in frameless cabinetry are also usually larger because of the space saved by not having a face frame attached to the front.
